To say that I’m a big fan of roasted suckling pig is an under statement. Be it Italian, Spanish, Filippino, or Singaporean style, I love them all! Within a span of three weeks, I had the opportunity to indulge in two very tasty varieties of the roasted hog.
One ocassion was in Manilla, a city where I’ve not visited for 12 years. In my younger days, I was a sales representative responsible for the Philippines and visited it every six weeks. Two of my all-time favorite Filippino dishes are the Crispy Pata (Deep Fried Pork Knuckles) and Lechon (roasted pig). So as we say here in Singapore, these were two “die-die-must-try” items on my list when I visited Manilla a couple of weeks ago. We found a place in Greenbelt 5, that came highly recommended by the hotel.
Last night, I bought a Roasted Suckling Pig Singapore style to a birthday party. I know it’s kinda of strange, but I don’t think anyone expected anything less from me. I got the pig from Tiong Bharu – it has one of the best I have tried in Singapore! They run a pretty good system. You ring them in the morning and let them know what time you need it. You can either pick it up or have it delivered. And they even cut up the roast pig into bite size pieces!
